Playtonic is a studio that celebrates diversity in all forms and strives to make games that everyone can enjoy. We would like to make absolutely clear that we do not endorse or support JonTron's personal viewpoints and that, as an external fan contributor, he does not represent Playtonic in any capacity. However, in light of his recent personal viewpoints we have made the decision to remove JonTron's inclusion in the game via a forthcoming content update. >"JonTron is a talented video presenter who we were initially, two years ago, happy to include as a voice contributor in our game. >"We recently became aware of comments made by voice artist JonTron after development on Yooka-Laylee had been completed," the firm told in a statement. They will shit post / troll on other boards that can distance themselves from and then retreat to their /pol/ safe space when they get ridiculed for basically saying the latest video game is shit due to jews/cucks/niggers/faggots/SJWS. Go to /pol/ and watch them have an aneurysm when someone dares point out something wrong about them like.īut, you know, at least /lgbt/ keep their faggotry in their own board. Go to /a/ and /v/ and watch as people say your taste is shit. pol/ only likes it when it's other people getting trolled or made fun of, not themselves. When you disrupt this echo chamber, they don't even counter troll. pol/ is a safe space for the politically inept who can only think in terms of a few basic issues. Go do it right now if you don't believe me, go to /pol/, post an argument which contradicts them in one of their threads and watch it die. pol/ almost never responds in threads that contradict their world view. pol/ selectively links to media that supports their opinions. It's like the idea of trying to be a hero, you can't plan to be a hero, the definition of being a hero is on the spot and against your better judgement, among other things. It's not simply them doing a just act, it's them doing something with the intention of being uplifted for their act. They assume the cultural majority will be offended by Jontron continuing his role in the game and also want people to see them as having a morale highground.Įven if it was their actual personal opinion it doesn't really matter though, they're still announcing it in a way that signifies that they want to be scene as being morally just for doing so.Īll virtue signaling has ever been is "look at me doing this controversial thing to show that I am against X and therefore a good person". PR obviously involves different tactics of reaching this positive state with the community and virtue signaling has become a rather misguided method of doing this. They're doing it for PR which is all about making a company have a steady relationship with the public so that it's product becomes a success. Very rarely do you have a company actually go out and stop something because that's what a company head truly feels (Chic-fil-a is the only example I can think of). TL DR these people are unironically a blight on the industry and should leave. They simply conformed to a new fad that made these "nerd" things become socially acceptable thanks to successful advertisement campaigns by apple and the show The Big Bang Theory. These people are not the same demographic that used to buy games, they were derived from the same people who ostracized people who played games as being "nerds" or "losers". This has led to things like the removal of fan service or certian instances of violence that they believe are immature or against their narrative, because the genre is supposed to be taken seriously. That is to say they believe videogames are art which has lead to the belief that games that emulate film are "more artistic" and that games need to take on a deep meaning and message that resonates with their world views. The kind of people who you're calling "liberals" are basically fad hoppers who seek to transform the industry to reflect their other interests. You're being ironic, however your statement holds true.
